There is a seemingly endless array of watersports at the ready on Florida’s West Coast, particularly in the Tampa Bay Area. Whether you’re hoping to hook a trophy shark in the Gulf of Mexico or jet around the area’s most beautiful locales on a self-guided speed boat tour, you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for and so much more here in Madeira Beach. When you choose a stay at Madeira Bay Resort, home to dozens of marina-front Madeira Beach condo rentals, you’ll always be a short walk from an exhilarating Gulf adventure, authentic “Floribbean” cuisine, and eclectic Johns Pass shopping. We’ve hand-selected three of our favorite things to do in Madeira Beach, including deep-sea fishing, parasailing, and jet-skiing!
One of the best aspects of parasailing high above the turquoise Gulf of Mexico is that anyone five and older can participate! There are several parasailing companies in the Tampa Bay Area, but we recommend Eagle Parasail on the Johns Pass Boardwalk. Not only do they have a perfect five-star rating on TripAdvisor, but they’re only a 0.4-mile stroll from the Mediterranean-style Madeira Bay Resort. Eagle Parasail provides single, tandem, or even triple flights, depending on the weight. They have 12 passenger vessels, so you’ll never have to wait long for an expedition. The feeling one gets when flying hundreds of feet above the Gulf is indescribable – it needs to be experienced by all!
You might think that half or full-day deep-sea fishing excursions would be geared toward experienced anglers, but Madeira Beach’s Hubbard’s Marina specializes in accommodating families and large groups. With nine trip options, ranging from five to 63 hours in length, there’s bound to be a fishing expedition that perfectly fits your group’s size and budget. They also provide private charters, dolphin cruises, kayak rentals, and so much more! We recommend embarking on a ten-hour family-friendly fishing trip in which you’ll have ample opportunities to reel in five types of delicious snapper, porgy, black seabass, or perhaps a mackerel.
If you’re hoping to spend an afternoon jet-skiing on the Gulf of Mexico, we recommend seeking out Woody’s Watersports, only a nine-minute walk from our marina-view Madeira Beach condo rentals. Woody’s has a massive fleet of finely-tuned, well-maintained jet skis available for rent. Riders must be at least 14 years of age with rentals lasting between 1-2 hours. We recommend exploring Boca Ciega Bay and its many islands as well as cruising along the many beach communities near Madeira Bay Resort.
